07.24.2018: Reflection Questions-

  • How does something you learned connect to what you already knew?
  •  How did it extend your thinking further?
  •  What questions do you still have?
  •  Think of one thing you have learned in class that you can apply in Peer Power classroom or another class or another part of your life. What is it, and how can you apply it?

  1. During the WES session, we covered unpacking standands. This is a topic we've covered in Peer Power before, but this was a great refresher. I believe this skill is very important because we need to understand what is required of our students. This way, we'll be able to see how we should approach the content. As Success Coaches, we should be aware of what is being taught in the classroom and plan accordingly.

  3. Learning about growth mindset confirmed to me how important it is to stay positive, be open about learning, and realize that you are more capable than you think.

  4. First, thank you for all the happy birthday wishes. I must say I really enjoy going to the WEZ seminars because I get an idea of what the teachers are thinking well as listening to the problems and concerns they have trying to reach the young people in their classrooms.

  5. Today I learned that although scores or grades are improving, the educational gap is still growing. We discussed some of the factors that cause this growth. It was mentioned that lack of resources, the large differences in economics, and family support contribute to the gap increase. I think it is also important to acknowledge that things and society are changing at a very fast rate. Everything from technology to education to the way employment is viewed is changing. That change is not going to stop anytime soon. We can either work to unify everyone to address the changes or we can let the changes amplify the current problems.

    Sorry for the late post.

I learned how to unpack standard. I also learned about the common core book that breaks down the standards for you, which is a great resource. I learned about tiers based on students knowledge.
